Juan Carlos Entrambasaguas Fernández
Juan Carlos Entrambasaguas is a highly accomplished Spanish saxophone performer and music educator, known for his expertise in both Contemporary and Classical Music. He has been active across Finland, Spain, and the United States, showcasing his talent as a soloist and chamber musician, while also imparting knowledge through teaching master classes and collaborating with artists of international acclaim.
Juan Carlos holds advanced degrees in Classical Saxophone Performance from prestigious institutions. He earned his Master's from the University of the Arts of Helsinki (Sibelius Academy of Finland), under the tutelage of Joonatan Rautiola. Additionally, he holds both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Saxophone Performance from the Superior Conservatory of Salamanca (Spain), where he studied with renowned saxophonists Ángel Soria and Juan Clemente. His time in Finland allowed him to integrate diverse musical styles, blending Nordic and European influences into his performances.
His teaching career spans conservatories and universities, where he has shaped students at a high level. Currently, he serves as a woodwind instructor at the Community Music Center in San Francisco, teaches music at the Elk Grove School District, and directs an after-school band program for the Fairfield School District. He also teaches saxophone, clarinet, flute, piano, and music theory at Sayla Music Academy in Lodi, Young Artist Conservatory of Music in Vacaville, and NewSongs Music School in Sacramento.
As an internationally recognized educator, Juan Carlos has conducted master classes across Europe, including Norway, Finland, and Spain, as well as the United States, where he has taught and performed at institutions like Shenandoah University and American University. He has also played at prestigious venues such as the Manhattan School of Music and the International Saxophone Symposium hosted by the U.S. Navy Band.
Throughout his career, Juan Carlos has performed internationally, with concerts in Norway, Denmark, Latvia, Andorra, and Croatia, and has collaborated with renowned ensembles like the Sibelius Academy Symphony Orchestra and Helsinki Saxophone Orchestra. His deep interest in diverse musical traditions is reflected in his research on the fusion of Spanish flamenco and Arabic music.
