ANDREW CARDWELL
Andrew Cardwell is a percussionist, whose first major performance came with Shania Twain at Arco Arena in Sacramento as a high school senior. In the University of the Pacific Symphony Orchestra, he performed Beethoven’s famous 1808 concert in its entirety; in the same year, he joined the New Hammer Concert Band under the direction of Eric Hammer.
Andrew regularly performs with Stockton Concert Band, Lodi Concert Band, and Valley Concert Band, in addition to his duo, the Wild Cards. Early in his career, he was signed to the label Idle Vinyl Records and played drums on one unnamed album. Since then has also been professionally trained in the art of sound engineering.
He has studied with Jonathan Latta, Michael Downing, Al Brown, and Scot Ney, among others. As a teaching assistant at University of New Mexico, he provided instruction for undergraduate music students and taught collegiate classes. Along with teaching drum set, he currently gives instruction to local high school percussion ensembles. Andrew received his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music, and his Master of Music degree from University of New Mexico.
